Art Basel Hong Kong 2017 Highlight

Celebrated as the biggest art fair in the Asia-Pacific region,  the 2017 edition of Art Basel Hong Kong showcases 242 premier galleries from 34 countries around the globe. The 5-day mega art show (21-25 March at HKECC) has grown into a sensational rendezvous gathering high-quality Modern and contemporary art for seasoned art collectors as well as aficionados.

Similar to its previous editions, half of the participating galleries come from Asia. The Encounter sector, featuring installations or sculptures of epic scale, no wonder has included artists from six new regions, including Pakistan, Thailand, Taiwan, the Philippines, Vietnam and Tibet, emphasised the third time curator Alexie Glass-Kantor.

This year also witnessed an unprecedented curatorial emphasis, as seen in the debut of the Kabinett sector, in which 19 galleries spotlight remarkable artists in a specially curated project within their booth, depicting works ranging from kinetic installations to experimental sculptures and abstract paintings in the 60's.

Several artists showing at the fair will also be participating in the 57th Venice Biennale this summer. These include Nina Canell (Norway),  Xavier Veilhan (France), Tracy Moffatt (Australia), Samson Young (Hong Kong) and Erwin Wurm (Austria)  can also be seen on the show.

Here's are my top picks in the show.
